My 3 gases: Yellow: Sevoflurane administered via vapor mask, expensive MAC 2.2, irritant, not to be used on asthma pt. Use on Pediatric to calm down and cannulate. Also, use on those who are difficult to find a vein for IV. Blue: Desflurane MAC 6, inhalation can be used on both Adults and Paediatrics under certain circumstances but most commonly used on Adults. Used as a maintenance anesthetic after the initial induction via IV or other inhalant. Pink: Isoflurane MAC 1.1 used for induction and maintenance anesthesia. Least expensive and used most common, on both Adults and Paediatrics for in and outpatient surgeries. It generally takes awhile to awaken the pt after surgery due to slow elimination process of the anesthetic through the body, over other anesthetic but is seen as much safer in the induction process.

I'm studying alveoli related diseases and this came up. This video made it easier to understand. I don't think I'll need to know its use though as in only in highschool and by the time I'm in college it'll be considered state of the art, if not already since its from the 1990's... ._. Thanks!

You Know, I think that's a good idea. If you did a video on ASV, that would be great. Now you couldn't set into NIV mode but you could place a mask on the ventilator circuit while its in Invasive and then You could or ask somebody else to act as the patient. With test lungs you really can't simulate spontaneous activity. So I think that would work well.
